Jamshedpur, Sept. 22: Bal Vihar, a school for deaf and mute students in Sonari, can look forward to a better curriculum and lots of academic activities, thanks to Carmel Junior College.

The institute has decided to adopt Bal Vihar academically. Its 110-odd students will now be taught under guidelines of Carmel Junior College. A cultural programme was held today to announce the philanthropic project. All students of Bal Vihar came to Carmel Junior College to be a part of the occasion. Shakti Sharma, the head of education, Jusco, was also present.

Bal Vihar is affiliated to Jharkhand Academic Council but the curriculum will be framed by Carmel Junior College, affiliated to ICSE board, from now on. Terminal exams will also be held by Carmel. “We will not provide them any monetary assistance, but will frame the curriculum and host academic activities,” said principal of Carmel Junior College Sister Flavian.

She added that girls of Bal Vihar might get special benefits. The school might also introduce vocational training for the students. “We will try to make the project a success,” the principal said.

“However, I can assure that the special children will get best education from now onwards,” said Sister Flavian.
