Ranchi, Oct. 28: Jharkhand High Court today directed the chief accountant of Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) to appear in person for non-compliance of orders of the bench. The court while hearing a public interest litigation on bungling of funds had directed the accountant to give details of amounts and persons who were given the money.

The PIL was filed by one Rajneesh Kumar Singh who alleged that money running in crores were siphoned by corrupt officials of the civic body in the name of advance payments for various projects. Singh has particularly mentioned that between 1980 and 1998 the money has been misused and drawn for projects that had not seen the light of day. The case will again be taken up on November 4.

The embezzlement of public money was done by officials who signed vouchers though they did not have the power to do so.
