Calcutta: Sourav Ganguly feels “sorry” for Sreesanth, who was handed a life ban on Friday by the BCCI’s disciplinary committee on charges of spot-fixing in IPL-VI.
“If he has done it, then it’s the right decision. I feel sorry for him… It’s a sheer waste of talent,” Sourav Ganguly said after CAB’s coaching committee meeting. The disciplinary committee slapped life bans on Rajasthan Royals pacer Sreesanth and left-arm spinner Ankeet Chavan for their involvement in the scandal.
Amit Singh was handed a five-year ban, while Siddharth Trivedi got away with a one-year suspension. Sreesanth has reiterated he’s not guilty. “I can tell that I have not done anything wrong,” he said, in Kochi, on Saturday. “The only consolation for me now is that I am at home, not in a jail.”
On Saturday morning, he tweeted: “Plss have faith in me..I am sure I will prove my innocence soon....I will get through this..I ve full faith ..God is great.”
