first practice session, with
Mohun Bagan
Calcutta: There was a buzz over Sony Norde on Monday. Mohun Bagan were confident that Sony Norde will be joining them this week, but a post on his social networking page created a flutter. "It's good to play in Mexico again," he posted and now it looks very unlikely that Norde will come at all.
The club officials are hopeful though that they would be able to convince Norde. But Sanjay Sen, when asked to comment on the issue, said: "If he comes, then it's very good, if he doesn't then I will have to do with players I have. It's as simple as that," he said. If Bagan fail to convince Nordy, then it will be a big blow to the I-League defending champions. Sen may give an idea that he is not bothered, but it's true that Bagan were planning to revolve their attack around Norde.
Brazilian defender Luciano Sabrosa and Pronay Halder though were there at the morning practice session.
"It's a challenge for me. There were many players who have worn this jersey. But since I have got this jersey I have to do well," Luciano said after a practice session. He came to the town on Sunday.
Sabrosa said if Sen wants he will play Saturday's match against Salgaocar. "I was training individually back home and I am fit to play for 90 minutes," he said. Luciano said he has not seen Bagan play this season but is looking forward to work under Sen again. "We worked together when I was in Mohammedan Sporting so we know each other. That's an added plus," he said.
Sabrosa was asked about whether he was ready to guide the youngsters and the Brazilian readily accepted that he would help the new players. "I will definitely guide them. But if I also make a mistake I will expect a youngster to come and point that out. In a team game there is no place for ego." He added.
Before leaving for India, he has spoken to Jose Ramirez Barreto. "He wished me good luck. I know what he means to the Bagan fans," he said.
