Pujara’s ‘5-day’ innings

Cheteshwar Pujara became the 9th batsman in Test cricket history to have done some batting on all the five days of a Test match. He joins ML Jaisimha (vs Aus in 1960) and Ravi Shastri (vs Eng in 1984) - both also at the Eden Gardens, to become the third Indian to do so in Tests.

Cheteshwar Pujara became the 9th batsman in Test cricket history to have done some batting on all the five days of a Test match. He joins ML Jaisimha (vs Aus in 1960) and Ravi Shastri (vs Eng in 1984) - both also at the Eden Gardens, to become the third Indian to do so in Tests.

• This is how Pujara batted on all the five days of this Test match:

1st day: 8* in 32 balls

2nd day: 39* in 70 balls

3rd day: 5 in 15 balls

4th day: 2* in 9 balls

5th day: 20 in 42 balls

• Virat Kohli recorded his 11th Test hundred as a captain, equalling Sunil Gavaskar.

• Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the 39th Indian bowler to claim 50 or more wickets in Test cricket.

• The 17 wickets in this match is the most by Indian pacers in a home Test and also for the first time in 262 Tests that no Indian spinner has managed a single wicket in a home Test match.
