Guwahati: Shashi Chopra kept it simple as hosts India's launched their campaign on the second day of the AIBA Women's Youth World Championships here on Monday.
India won two bouts and lost one with Haryana girl Shashi punching her way to a 5-0 victory over Uzbeki Durdonakhon Rakhmatova in the 57 kg preliminaries, using her height and aggression to good effect.
Later, India suffered a reverse when Vanlalhariatpuii (60 kg) lost to Korean Aeji Im on points.
India's last match featured Astha Pahwa (69 kg), against Bulgarian Melis Nezhdetova Yonuzova. Both started aggressively, but it was Astha who had the last laugh.
Russian Anastasia Shamonova (75kg), the junior AIBA champion and one of the title contenders, outboxed Sharahya Moreu of the US 5-0. However, it was curtains for the talented Karoliona Makhno of Ukraine who lost to Polish Natalia Marczykowska 0-5.
The day saw 30 bouts in two sessions.
