Jalandhar, Sept. 28 (PTI): Three IM norm holders, including former national champion P. Konguvel, were forced to bite the dust in the second round of the 40th national B chess championship on Saturday.
Amardeep S Bartakke of Maharashtra defeated IM Rahul Shetty of Indian Airlines while Konguvel of Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSCB) lost a winning endgame against Devender Singh Soni.
Veteran Ravi Hegde of Bank Sports Board was the third IM to lose when he blundered to go down to Vinod Sharma on an otherwise predictable second round where most of the top players had it easy.
