Ishpreet ousted

Teen sensation Ishpreet Singh Chadha stunned defending champion Varun Madan 5-3 to advance into the pre-quarter finals but failed to make it to the last-eight stage of the National 6-Red Snooker Championship on Monday.

Calcutta: Teen sensation Ishpreet Singh Chadha stunned defending champion Varun Madan 5-3 to advance into the pre-quarter finals but failed to make it to the last-eight stage of the National 6-Red Snooker Championship on Monday.

Ishpreet won the first frame 57-15 but Varun pocketed the next two frames 60-06, 39-11 at the Bengal Rowing Club. Ishpreet turned the table in the fourth and the fifth frames 44-10, 29-21.

Down 2-3,Varun bounced back and won the sixth frame 70-00, but lost the final two frames 10-49,01-51.

However, later in the day, Chadha lost to Kamal Chawla of Railway Sports Promotion Board 5-1 in the pre-quarter finals.

Other who made the quarter finals were Sourav Kothari, Aditya Mehta, Brijesh Damani, Manan Chandra, Kaal Chawla, Pushpinder Singh and Rajat Khaneja.
