The 21-year-old’s mature presence at the top of the order is extremely important for KKR, more so because they don’t have a stable second opener. Gill can control his game as per match situation and is not one to give in to big-hitting temptations just for the sake of it.

Out of form, yes, but no one can dare to keep “Dre Russ” out of the equation. He will be even hungrier on Friday. Bowlers have cramped him up somewhat, not letting him free his arms. He has done decently with the ball though.

The uncertainty over Sunil Narine makes “mystery spinner” Chakravarthy even more important in KKR’s scheme of things. He has served his team well, mixing up his deliveries yet keeping it simple. But it will be a tough test for him against MI’s strong batting line-up.

Jasprit Bumrah

Consistency has always been Bumrah’s strength, but he has had a few ordinary outings this season. However, overall he has been good and it is never easy to score off him. Toe crushers, bouncers, slowers — he has them all in his armoury and will hold the key for MI once again.

1st leg vs KKR: 2/32 off 4 overs

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma

He has always done well against KKR, including the first-leg meeting in this edition. Rohit scored both his half-centuries this season at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, venue of Friday’s match, and will once again be the most important wicket for Dinesh Karthik’s KKR.

IPL 2020 form: Mts 7, Runs 216, Avg, 30.85

1st leg vs KKR: 80 off 54 balls

Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard

One of the biggest hitters of the ball in international cricket, Pollard has been somewhat under-utilised by Mumbai Indians this time. He has come in too late in most of the matches, but still played some monstrous shots. It could also be a Russell vs

Pollard contest on Friday.

IPL 2020 form: Mts 7, Runs 174, Avg, 174.00, Wkts 2, Econ 8.80

1st leg vs KKR: 13* off 7 balls; 1/21 off 3 overs
