Being the highest wicket-taker in this IPL with 23 scalps so far, pacer Harshal Patel has played an important role for Royal Challengers Bangalore who are third on the points table.

Harshal, who also recorded a hat-trick in RCB’s comprehensive 54-run win over Mumbai Indians in Dubai on Sunday, wasn’t considered for India’s T20 World Cup squad when the national selectors finalised the names earlier this month. Harshal, though, is not losing sleep over it.

“I don’t have any regret any time. The decisions I’ve taken in life were taken as per my best ability at that time. And when it comes to selection, that is completely out of my control,” he said at the post-match media conference after RCB’s win over Mumbai.

What counts for Harshal is the impact he can have when playing for his team. “Whichever team I play for, be it a club or an IPL team, or when I’ll play for the country or when I play for Haryana, I try to have a positive impact with the ball or the bat at any given situation. That is my goal,” the 30-year-old emphasised.
