Thisara to quit Tests

Colombo: Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera will retire from Test cricket, but will continue playing ODIs and T20Is games, officials said on Monday.

Pink match

Calcutta: The third and final match of the upcoming T20I series between India and Australia will turn pink to support the McGrath Foundation.

ICC move

New Delhi: Dave Richardson, the ICC CEO, Monday said that the parent body of cricket will enter into a "working relationship with country's police and (investigative) agencies" in order to prevent any anti-corruption activity during the upcoming World T20, to be held in India.

Dhoni praised

New Delhi: Anurag Thakur, the BCCI secretary, has hailed Mahendra Singh Dhoni as a "very fine captain". Speaking on the sidelines of an ICC initiative, in association with the BCCI and Unicef, on cleanliness, Thakur said: "I think it is unfair to question his leadership after just one series." Thakur also said that the Indian team will have a full time coach after the World T20

Cook call-up

Calcutta/Johannesburg: South Africa have added uncapped opener Stephen Cook, son of former Test opener Jimmy Cook, to their squad for the final Test against England, starting on Friday. Meanwhile, England seamer Steven Finn appears likely to miss the fourth Test because of a side strain.

Schools' cricket

Calcutta: Centuries by Arka Chowdhury and Aman Singh helped South Point beat WWA Cossipore English School by 465 runs in the Mayor's Cup inter-school meet on Monday.

Brief scores: South Point 613/4 in 45 ovs (Arka Chowdhury 194 n.o., Aman Singh 157, Shreyan Dutta 98). WWA Cossipore English School 148 in 37 ovs . South Point by 465 runs.
