ECB unhappy with India itinerary

Calcutta: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has expressed its unhappiness at the itinerary proposed by India for the teams’ meetings later this year, says A Staff Reporter.

According to an ECB release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed that England begins its seven-week tour with two warm-up matches in Mumbai and finishes with the last of two Tests in the same city.

In between those games, there are seven one-day Internationals, another warm-up and the first Test all in different cities.

The ECB is unhappy at the venues, excluding major cricket venues Calcutta, Bangalore, Chennai and Mohali.

The ECB has yet to accept the itinerary, saying it will only do so “subject to acceptable logistical arrangements and an acceptable security environment and security arrangements being in place at each of the venues.”

Mubarak to lead Board XI

Colombo: Jehan Mubarak will lead the Sri Lanka Board XI team in a warm-up match against India on Friday ahead of the three-match Test series starting July 23.
The Sri Lanka Board squad includes pacer Dilhara Fernando and batsman Chamara Silva.

BCCI-CSA move

New Delhi: The BCCI has entered into an umpires’ exchange programme with Cricket South Africa for the upcoming domestic season in the two countries.
According to a BCCI release, under the programme, India will depute two umpires to officiate in two four-day matches in South Africa in this season.

India A beat SA

Calcutta: The India A team that is presently in Australia for the quadrangular Emerging Players tournament beat South Africa by 12 runs in a T20 fixture, says A Staff Reporter.
According to a BCCI release, batting first, India were in trouble at 32 for five after 10 overs. Skipper Subramaniam Badrinath (37) and Ravindra Jadeja (20) then put together a partnership.

Second win

Ashdod (Israel): Superb half-centuries by M. Vijay (77), Chetshwer Pujara (73) and Rajat Bhatia (55 n.o.) on Monday helped India A defeat hosts Israel by 90 runs in their second ODI.

India A scored 313 for 5 in 50 overs and then rolled over the opponents in 46 overs with Vinay Kumar (4/33) and Rajat (3/35) halting Israel’s chase at 223 runs.
