Australia women’s team all-rounder Nicola Carey looks up to Jhulan Goswami and would like to bowl yorkers like the legendary India seamer.

“Jhulan is very impressive. She was really good upfront with the new ball throughout the three ODIs, taking some really key wickets,” Carey said on Monday.

“And then she comes back at the death with those yorkers. I want to bowl yorkers like how she bowls them because she was very impressive there at the back-end (in the third and final ODI versus Australia in Mackay on Sunday).

“She had an amazing career and still is able to do what she has been doing for all these years. That is pretty impressive, and yeah, as I said, I want to bowl yorkers like Jhulan as that is my goal,” the 28-year-old Carey, who bats left-handed but bowl right-arm medium pace, added.

The 38-year-old Jhulan has, in her career spanning over 19 years, played 11 Tests, a staggering 192 ODIs and 68 T20Is, having scalped 41, 240 and 56 wickets, respectively. In the third and final ODI on Sunday, Jhulan first starred with the ball, taking 3/37 off her 10 overs and then hit an unbeaten eight off seven balls as India chased down a formidable target of 267 with two wickets in hand and three balls to spare.

Carey, who has so far played 20 ODIs and 18 T20Is but is yet to make her Test debut, described the Indian batting line-up as a “dangerous” one. “They are incredible players.

“(Captain) Mithali Raj is an experienced campaigner, scored truck loads of runs, while the rest are a really committed lot. So they are sort of dangerous in different ways, but we also have our plans for them.

“And the pink-ball Test coming up is a little bit different. It’s Test cricket, so they will probably come out playing a little bit differently,” Carey said.
