Marcus Stoinis has been nicknamed The Hulk by his Delhi Capitals teammates. He was seen moving around with a miniature figure of the fictional superhero after accepting his Man of the Match award for Sunday’s Qualifier 2.
Capitals chances against Mumbai Indians in the final will revolve around Stoinis since he has proven that he can change the course of a match with his explosive batting and disciplined bowling. Ricky Ponting has been part of such title clashes to understand the mental aspect behind winning and losing. He will try to disturb Mumbai’s momentum and Stoinis could prove to be his ideal tool in Dubai on Tuesday as the team chases a dream.
The Capitals head coach sounded a warning on Monday. “It’s been a good season but we are here to win the IPL,” Ponting said. “We got off to a good start but were a bit shaky towards the end but the boys have managed to play two very good games out of three, and hopefully, we can play our best game in the final.”
While Mumbai will be eyeing a fifth title, the Capitals have made their maiden entry into the final.
“There will be a psychological advantage, yes. But what we’ve seen in the IPL is that every day is a fresh day, every day there is new pressure and ever game is a new game,” Rohit said on the eve of the final.
