Guwahati: Young Blue Club and Shantipur Athletic Club were awarded walkovers as their opponents, Nilachal Club and Ankurjyoti Club, failed to turn up for their GSA Debabrata Banerjee trophy B-division football league matches at the Nehru stadium here on Thursday.

In the C-division championship of the GSA at Machkhowa Idgah, New Star Club and Wari Club were awarded walkover against Young Green Club and Ulubari Club respectively on Thursday.

GSA meet
Guwahati: A working committee meeting of the GSA will be held in its office premises on April 24. The meeting will adopt several bylaws vis-à-vis cricket and football in constitution of the association.

Powerlifting
Guwahati: Assam powerlifters Niru Gogoi (52 kg), Binita Chetia (48 kg) and Minu Gogoi (44 kg) bagged a gold apiece in the East India powerlifting championship which concluded in Jamshedpur recently.

Minalini Saikia (67.5 kg), Sukanya Gogoi (75 kg) and Daisy Deka (56kg) bagged a silver apiece, while Minoti Dihingia (52 kg) and Seuti Baruah (44 kg) won a bronze each.

Screening
Guwahati: A screening for the Northeast team taking part in the Women’s World Open Karate Championship and All-American Open Karate Championship from June 22 in New York, is currently on at the Kyokushin Karate Academy at Hatigaon here. Interested karatekas have been asked to contact the director of the academy to take part in the test.
