Overturned vehicles lie on AK Azad Road in Guwahati after an irate mob damaged four trekkers following an accident in Rehabari on Saturday. A trekker knocked down Bharti Chakraborty, a Class VII student of Bengali Girls’ High School, injuring her critically.
The mob also assaulted the driver before he fled the spot. Paltan Bazar police cleared the road which remained blocked for more than an hour leading to severe traffic congestion.
The 11-year-old girl was admitted to a private nursing home with severe head injury.
