Imphal, July 25: Sylvia Loukrakpam led Imphal East shooters in creating seven new records in the seventh Imphal East District Shooting Championship, which concluded yesterday at the shooting range, Khuman Lampak.
Sylvia created two new district records in 10-metre junior women's air pistol and 10-metre sub-junior air pistol. G. Shyamkanhai Sharma shot to a new record in the 25-metre men's individual standard pistol and Jupiter Asem in the 25-metre junior men's individual standard pistol.
Others who reached a new high in the meet were Aksar MSK in 10m .177 peep-sight air rifle, Joychand Th in 10m men's individual air pistol and Khagemba Loukrakpam in the 10m junior men's air pistol.
Cops win
Manipur Police Sports Club registered their second straight win beating Youth Welfare Club, Langthabal, 3-1 in the pre-qualifiers of the Women's National League played on home-and-away format at artificial turf, Khuman Lampak, yesterday.
International striker Ng. Bala Devi continued to shine as she provided the lead for Manipur Police team in the fourth minute of play. However, Youth Welfare Club stormed back into the game with S. Rinaroy Devi fetching the equaliser in the 21st minute to draw level.
Manipur Police Sports Club, led by another international player O. Bembem Devi, made things look easy as she egged on to her teammates and got rewarded when Ng. Bala Devi struck again in the 61st minute to make it 2-1. Later, Ng. Anibala Devi consolidated in the 85th minute for the 3-1 victory.
In another match, Eastern Sporting Union also picked up their second win, thrashing Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club 8-0.
Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club, who were facing consecutive defeats, found the going tough as they lagged behind by three goals in the first half and fared no better in the later stages as well. Kashmina and I. Prameshowri Devi led the charge for Eastern Sporting, scoring hattricks, while Th. Umapati Devi and W. Ranjibala Devi fetched a goal each.
State league: The All Manipur Football Association said the 11th Manipur State League will start from August 18 at Mapal Kangjeibung. The participating teams will have to pay Rs 3,000 as entry fee before July 30 while team registration, for players and officials, will be accepted till August 6.
