Khowang team up

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh City College will meet Naharkatia College in the first semi-final of the Dibrugarh University inter-college football meet on Wednesday. D.R. College of Golaghat will play against Khowang College in other semi-final on Thursday. In the last quarterfinal, Khowang College thrashed Dhemaji College 5-0 on Tuesday. Bhogeswar Sonowal scored a brace, while Hemen Seleng, Nitul Sonowal and Bijoy Munda netted one each. The final is slated for Saturday.

Imphal: The Taekwondo Federation of India has nominated Indubhushan Kongkham of Manipur as manager of the national team for the five-day 16th world taekwondo championship in Germany. Assam’s Paban Saikia (lightweight category) has been named in the squad.

Judo exam

Guwahati: Assam judokas Asima Saikia and Abhijeet Das have cleared the Judo Federation of India’s examinations held in Calcutta. Saikia has cleared the Ndio B-grade examination, while Das was awarded the Sho Dan black belt.

Guwahati: The Guwahati Sports Association will hold its annual inter-club and inter-educational institution athletics meet in December.
