Gogoi contests age test result

Guwahati: The medical board that conducted the age verification tests of the Assam under-15 cricketers has summoned Sunil Ranjan Gogoi for re-examination following an appeal by his parents to the Assam Cricket Association (ACA). Gogoi failed the test, but his father contested the verdict and produced documents pertaining to his son’s birth on January 18, 1990. The panel found the documents, including confirmation of pregnancy, authentic. Radiology reports showed joining of bones that happens only when one crosses 15 years.

Boat race

Hailakandi: The six-member Hajipur team emerged champions and Majhargul finished runners-up in a boat race, organised by Hajipur Boat Race Committee, on the Badrihaor river at Badarpur in Karimganj district on Monday. Six teams participated in the meet.

Ranking meet

Guwahati: The third all-Assam ranking badminton tournament will be held in Jorhat from August 5 to 8. The meet, scheduled from July 22, was postponed due to floods in the state.
