Guwahati, March 30: South Central Railway trailed by 183 runs with six wickets to spare after bowling out North Western Railway for 256 in 98 overs in the first innings of the final of the 61st Inter-Railway Cricket Tournament at NF Railway Stadium here today.
Resuming at the overnight 80 for four, NW Railway today rode an unbeaten 76 by Md Ahmed to rally to the respectable total. SC Railway were reduced to 73 for four in 29 overs at stumps on the third day of the four-day match.
Ahmed's 119-ball innings comprised six fours and three sixes. Yatendra Panwar (55, 4x4), Vikram Rajawat (35, 5x4), Afroz Khan (25, 2x4) and Suryaprakash Suvalka (23, 4x4) were the other notable scorers for the side.
Sk Kamruddin was the SC Railway wrecker-in-chief, having hauled six for 51, while B. Sudhakar took three for 59. Their teammates G. Shyam Sundar remained unbeaten on 42 (5x4), while G. Chiranjeevi (12, 2x4) and M. Suresh (10, 1x4) were the other batsmen to score in double figures.
Gaurav Khatri of NW Railway picked up two wickets for 36 runs as Madhur Khatri and Sailendra Gahlot claimed one each.
