Guwahati, Feb. 10: River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre annexed the fifth Hemanta Baruah Inter-institution Under-16 Cricket Tournament title, organised by Ankurjyoti Club, defeating Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre by 17 runs in the final at Latasil playground here today.
Put in to bat, River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre batsmen put up a total of 163 runs before being all out in 29.3 overs. Nikhil Basfor topscored for his side with 52 runs off 61 deliveries while Subham Das chipped in with 29 runs off 24 balls. D. Riyan Parag was the pick of the bowlers with five wickets in his kitty for 23 runs in 4.3 overs while Sohail Hussain and Pragyash P. Barman took two wickets each.
In reply, Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre were restricted to 146 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 30 overs. Parag topscored with 55 runs off 48 deliveries while Jay Singh chipped in with 30 runs off 45 balls. Sameer Sharma picked up three wickets for 28 runs while Akash Chetri and Hinjyoti Sarma scalped one wicket each.
Basfor was adjudged the Man of the Tournament while Parag walked away with the Man of the Match honours.
