March 12: Airtel has established partnerships with over 60 merchant outlets in Northeast who will accept payments via Airtel Money. Customers using airtel money will be able to avail exclusive discounts and attractive offers at these outlets and save money as they shop. George Mathen, CEO, NESA, Bharti Airtel, said the company was confident that its customers across Assam and the Northeast will see great convenience in subscribing to the service. The Guwahati branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India organised a continuing professional education meet on Issues Related to E-TDS and E-VAT Returns on Saturday. Rajesh Agarwal spoke on the electronic return filing under Assam VAT Rules and apprised members about the various difficulties faced by the dealers in e-filing of VAT returns. Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (Finer) has expressed concern over the recent freight charge hike announced by the railway ministry, and said it had come as a shock for industries in the Northeast, as it would make the region more incompetitive and products costlier, which, in turn, would hit the economy of the region.
