Guwahati, Aug. 4: At least 40 people have fallen ill after having prasad in the Rani area in Kamrup district, on Saturday night. The incident occurred at Nabapur, nearly 1.5km from the Rani community health centre. The affected people complained of vomiting and diarrhoea. Doctors have taken food samples to confirm whether it is a case of food poisoning or not. Tezpur: Police seized a huge quantity of ganja from a Tezpur-bound bus in Thelamara in Sonitpur district, during regular frisking on Sunday. Sikun Saharia from Majbat in Udalguri district was held. Jorhat: A herd of 20 elephants damaged five houses belonging to workers at the main labour quarter line of Murmuria division of Cinnamara tea estate here, late on Saturday. Dhubri: Altogether 40 boxes containing cough syrup with a street value of Rs 6 lakh were seized by Chagolia police from an Imphal-bound truck at Chagolia checkgate in Dhubri district.
