Bordoloi Trophy
Guwahati, Nov. 28: Brazilian forward Ivan Fiel Da Silva struck a spectacular freekick to propel Fransa Club of Goa into the semi-finals of the 52nd Bordoloi Trophy here this evening.
The all-important goal off the freekick taken from just outside the penalty area in the 13th minute into the game helped the Goan outfit grab a solitary-goal victory over Shillong XI at the Nehru Stadium under floodlights.
The winners with two Brazilians and a Nigerian in their ranks enjoyed maximum ball possession throughout the match, but both teams failed to hit the nets on several occasions.
Fransa, coached by Shabbir Ali, will now meet defending champions Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), Shillong, in the second semi-final on Sunday.
