All the district and subdivisional units of the All Assam Students? Union and the Asom Unnati Sabha will demonstrate across the state on Monday to protest against the caning of ?peaceful protesters? and assault on scribes by security forces during chief minister Tarun Gogoi?s visit to Kakopathar in Tinsukia district. he AASU and Asom Unnati Sabha in a joint statement on Sunday said harassment of innocent people would have to be stopped immediately to avoid further unrest in the state. The Darwin School of Business organised a day-long workshop on communications and perceptions, titled Beyond the Eyes, on its campus along RG Baruah Road on Friday. Several entrepreneurs participated in the workshop. The Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society will organise a 10-day art fair at the Kalakshetra from April 1. Altogether 40 stalls will be set up at the fair. Cane and bamboo products, paintings, terracotta items, masks and traditional Assamese ornaments will be displayed at the fair. The Debojit Fan Club in Silchar on Sunday extended financial assistance to the All Assam Students? Union for the treatment of folk singer Rameswar Pathak, who is undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Leading publication house Banalata will publish three books by litterateur Bhabendra Nath Saikia on the occasion of his 74th birth anniversary on Monday. The books will be released by his widow Preeti Saikia. The first international conference of the North East Indian Linguistic Society was organised at the Phanidhar Dutta Hall of Gauhati University. A number of scholars from the Northeast, France and Australia participated in the conference. The Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya will organise an all-Assam science exhibition on the school premises on March 11 and 12. Interested students can contact the school authorities by February 28.
