‘Flowers maintain fresh energy in the room’

Q We have recently moved into a flat where the main entrance is at the end of a long corridor. Somehow we have not been feeling too comfortable since Day One. The entrance is in the west. Could you please suggest some tips to ease us out?

Parinita Samanta

A: The main door at the end of a long corridor invites gales of chi rushing through your home, which is not very productive and thus makes you all uncomfortable. To remedy this, hang a wind chime with six or seven hollow metal rods. When fast moving energy approaches the wind chime, it rises through the hollow tubes and emerges out through the top end, thus changing the pattern, and slowing down the energy. You can also place pots all along the corridor in a zig-zag manner so that the energy starts to meander and slows down by the time it reaches your main door. Placing heavy earthen potted plants on either side of the entrance will also help in stabilising fast incoming energy. Small earthen pots filled with sea salt placed on them will help immensely in absorbing negative energy. You can also try placing beautiful sculptures, small boulders or pebbles in a decorative manner near the entrance. The weight and symbolic nature of these objects will also significantly help stabilise fast moving energy.

Q: I live in an old house, which is very dark and dingy. Northern and eastern portions of my house are totally blocked. I would be very glad if you could give me some tips to energise my house.

Mala Phukan

A: Do not panic if the vital areas are blocked, as effective lighting can breathe yang energy in your home especially if it has such poor ventilation. Ensure that all dark corners are brilliantly illuminated with lamps. Introduce tall bamboo shoots or float fresh flower petals in water in the gloomy corners. A beautiful arrangement of flowers adds to the aesthetic beauty of a room and also maintains fresh energy in the room by preventing energy from stagnating in dark corners. They have the ability to uplift one’s spirit and transform the room. Flowers also have the natural mechanism of increasing the oxygen content, improving humidity and elevating the energy of any space. Music systems, bells and Buddhist gongs can also be used, as they carry with them vibration energy that successfully activates such homes. Silk flowers or wallpapers with floral pattern on the eastern wall are also considered to be effective energy generators: they help create a welcoming and nurturing space.

Q: My husband was born on January 25, 1963. I am really worried about him, as his health and business are not doing well. He is under lot of stress. Now he wants to start a new business in electronics. Could you please advise whether this new business would suit him or not?

Sheela Purakayastha

A: According to his pillars of destiny, he is a strong earth person with good support of the fire element. This makes him acquire all the qualities of the mother earth like being warm, affectionate and loving. But healthwise his stomach becomes a matter of concern. Take extra care of his food habits and make him discharge the excessive earth elements by regular exercise, walking, jogging and gym.

He is going through a phase of life that is ruled by earth and fire. Both these elements go against him, as they throw his already excessive earth elements out of balance. He should not be venturing into new business related with electronics or real estate or where lot of money is involved. This is the time of life when he needs to play safe with his finances, as there is danger of losing money. Any business that is related with water brings direct wealth to him and the safest would be trading of metallic goods where investment would be minimal.
