Dhubri, March 6: A businessman of Dudhnoi town of Goalpara district, Anand Sarma, has been missing since last evening.

This comes after a 29-year-old doctor Partha Sarathi Hazarika, and two of his friends, Diganta Nandi and Joydeb Rabha of the same town, have been missing since Sunday from Hudakona.

Sarma has been missing from Dainadubi in Goalpara district.

All the four persons are suspected to have been abducted by a militant group.

But police have denied the involvement of any militant group, as there was no communication from any outfit to the family members till today.

A senior police officer in Goalpara said they were investigating as to who could be behind these incidents.

Goalpara superintendent of police Luise Aind said the cases were shrouded in mystery, as there was no clue to suggest that they were abducted. “However, we have launched an operation in the area,” Aind said.

Hazarika’s car AS01AR /7190 was found abandoned at Hudakona under Krishnai police station of Goalpara district.

The police are using the point where the car was recovered to investigate further.

According a local source in Dudhnoi, Hazarika, Nandi and Rabha went towards Kukurkata with a lady, aged around 30, who had met Hazarika on Sunday.

“They left Dudhnoi at 11am on Sunday for Goalpara but on the way they moved toward Kukurkata from Krishnai. Kukurkata is close to the Assam-Meghalaya border. The car was found abandoned at Hudakona, 3km from the border,” the source said.

Hazarika hails from Barpeta and practises in Dudhnoi, Nandi runs a motorcycle service centre and Rabha is a contractor.
