Guwahati, April 16: Hosts City Cricket Club Blue and Navajyoti Club registered convincing victories in their respective matches of the first Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazarika T-20 Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

In the inaugural match, City Cricket Club Blue eased past Titan Club by eight wickets. Put in to bat, Titan Club failed to put up a competitive total as the side was all out for 97 runs in 19.2 overs. Chandan Jha and Nabajit Narzary chipped in with 17 runs each. Romario Sharma put up a fine spell of bowling with three wickets for seven runs in his allotted four overs while Tajinder Singh and Sadik Imran Choudhury picked up two wickets each.

In reply, City Cricket batsmen didn’t face much of a difficulty as the side eased past the target losing two wickets in 10.2 overs. Romario Sharma rose to the occasion with an unbeaten knock of 42 runs off 25 deliveries which featured six boundaries and a six while Tajinder Singh remained not out with 21 runs off 19 balls with a hit to the fence and one over the ropes. Nabajit Narzary and Kukha Goswami bagged a wicket each. Romario Sharma walked away with the Man of the Match honour for his fine all-round performance.

In the second match of the day, Navajyoti Club thrashed Chandmari Club by 10 wickets. Chandmari batsmen managed 78 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Manash Jyoti Sarma with a run-a-ball 11 was the lone batsman to reach the double-figure mark while Ajay Kohli remained not out with nine runs. Nipon Deka was the wrecker-in-chief with four wickets for 13 runs in his quota of overs while Abhijeet Singha Roy took one wicket for 17 runs in his allotted overs.

In reply, both the Navajyoti openers Aditya Barooah and Abdul Hussain steered the ship home in 11.3 overs. Barooah scored an unbeaten 40 runs off 35 balls with seven hits to the fence while Hussain scored 21 runs off 34 deliveries which featured two boundaries.

Nipon Deka was adjudged the Man of the Match.
