Imphal, March 18: Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club thrashed Manipur Police Sports Club (B) by 13-4 goals to sail into the semi-finals of the 25th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Chingkhei Hunba started on a strong note with A. Cameroon hitting home the opening goal but Manipur Police replied positively with I. Khaba Singh fetching the equaliser to level scores 1-1 within the first two minutes.
However, Chingkhei Hunba riders fired up with L. Atangba putting in two goals while Th. Kaoba pushed in one goal to post a 4-1 score in the first chukker. Galloping hard with more connection, Chingkhei Hunba struck with Th. Kaoba and L. Atangba netting a goal each.
Policeman T. Pradeepkumar made a late swing to fetch his team's second goal to trail by 2-6 goals.
Pradeepkumar came up with his team's third goal but Chingkhei Hunba rider L. Kokeshor struck another goal to make the tally 7-3 in the third chukker. In the fourth chukker, police rider Kh. Nongpoknganba scored their fourth goal.
For Chingkhei Hunba, A. Cameroon struck three goals while L. Atangba, Th. Kaoba and L. Kokeshor hit home a goal each for the 13-4 win.
In another quarter-final match, Manipur Police Sports Club (A) drubbed Eastern Students Club by 15-5 goals to moves into the semi-final.
Volleyball: IGO Oinam moved into the semi-final beating IKYC Irengbam by 3-1 sets in the third L. Rajbapu Sharma Memorial State-Level Cash Prize Volleyball Tournament played at Heirangoithong in Imphal West.
