Kohima, July 29: Voting for byelection to the Northern Angami-I Assembly constituency was held amid tight security here today. There was a 78.5 per cent voter turnout.
The voting started at 7am and ended at 4pm. Long queues were seen in all the polling booths.
Nagaland chief electoral officer Abhijit Sinha said smooth polling was reported from all the 25 polling stations.
Former Nagaland chief minister Shürhozelie Liezietsu is contesting on an NPF ticket from the constituency. His only rival is Independent candidate Kekhrie Yhome.
