
Tezpur, Dec. 22: Zee TV anchor and Mumbai-based actor Mohin Khan, 27, drowned in the Jia Bharali at Tipi near Bhalukpong along the Assam-Arunachal border at 4.30pm yesterday when he went down to take a dip in the river.
Sonitpur superintendent of police Sanjukta Parashar said the actor had gone to Jia Bharali for a swim but no information was available regarding what happened after that.
The rescue team had been conducting a search, she added.
Bhalukpong, in West Kameng district, is about 120km from Tezpur and more than 290km from state capital Itanagar.
The actor, along with a five-member team of Zee TV - Kamakhya Narayan Singh, (director), Vidya Soni (producer), Abhisek Srivastav (cameraperson) and Rahul Singh (assistant cameraperson) - arrived at the spot on Monday to shoot a documentary on tourism with the theme "Traveler XP". The team camped at Bhalukpong Eco-Camp. Before lunch, the actor went down to take a dip and slipped on a mossy boulder under the water, police said.
An NDRF team, along with the rafting group of Nameri Eco-Camp, has been conducting the search to find the body. The actor was known for television shows Nub TV (2014), Pretty Ricky Live in Miami (2014) and Chief Keef Live Bang 3 Tour (2015).
