Bongaigaon: The United Organisation Coordination Committee (a joint forum of four non-tribal student groups) has withdrawn its 12-hour Assam bandh on Monday in protest against the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC)'s new land policy and demanding early release of its activists arrested by police on March 6.

It has also demanded the early release of arrested activists.

The decision followed a discussion with BTC chief Hagrama Mahilary and the top police officials of Bodoland Territorial Areas District (BTAD).

Non-tribal groups of the BTAD became restive after the council's executive body adopted new resolution in the recent past to curtail the land rights of non-tribal communities living in the council area.

The committee had called 24-hour BTAD strike on March 6 demanding protection of non-tribal land rights and dissolution of the council.
