The love birds and popular Ram-Sita jodi from the Ramayana, Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee, renewed their wedding vows in a Bengali-style ceremony as part of a film scene, in Kolkata after 10 years of marriage.

Looking resplendent in a Bengali wedding trousseau, Gurmeet looked the perfect Bengali ‘bor’ in a cream kurta and white dhoti while Debina looked like the perfect Bengali ‘bou’ in her red Benarasi.

The popular couple reunited for a Hindi short film, Shubho Bijoya, which is a Ram Kamal Mukherjee directorial venture and is shot by Modhura Palit.

While the much-talked-about and beautifully-shot wedding scene in the short film was supposed to be a small part of the script, Debina's long-time wish to have a proper Bengali wedding gave the director the idea to surprise the couple with a traditional Bengali ceremony, be it only for a scene.

The couple took their fans by surprise by sharing their ‘Bengali wedding’ photos on their social media handles on October 4. While on Instagram both Debina and Gurmeet shared their moment of joy with the caption “Finally” and tagged each other, the ‘newly wed’ couple also shared their wedding photos on Facebook and Twitter.

Among them are Debina feeding Gurmeet and a photo of the couple amidst marriage rituals. The couple’s visit to the city has been an interesting one — with a stop for ‘bhnarer cha’ and lovey dovey moments across town, but the 'wedding' was a head-turner indeed!
