The legendary singer-composer, Bappi Lahiri, breathed his last on February 15. He was 69. Lahiri (Bappi da to his legions of fans) made his debut in the Bengali film industry with Dadu (1962). The musician would go on to become one of India’s reigning melody superstars from the late ’70s to the early ’90s. Lahiri brought disco music to mainstream Indian cinema and will forever be remembered for his peppy numbers — songs that modern musicians can’t help remixing and remaking.

As the nation mourns his loss, Tollywood stars like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Srijit Mukherji, Mimi Chakraborty and many, many others also took to social media to pay their respects.
