Kolkata woke up to a cloudy morning on Tuesday with incessant spells of moderate to intense rain.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday morning warned of heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours in the Gangetic West Bengal area.
The IMD also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Fishermen have been advised against venturing out until the weather improves.
According to IMD’s latest weather update, a deep depression lay over north Odisha and Chhattisgarh. IMD predicts it will move to Madhya Pradesh after weakening into a depression within the next 48 hours.
The weather in Kolkata and Gangetic plains in Bengal is likely to improve from Wednesday.
