Naskar is a BJP leader from Howrah, sources in the police said.

“This person does not hold any post in our party. He is a worker of the Domjur-II mandal. The police have arrested him. Let the investigation continue and the law take its course. However, it is a fact that the administration and the police are under pressure from the Trinamul Congress and they have displayed a vindictive attitude towards BJP leaders and workers. We have started investigating the matter on behalf of the party,” said Manimohan Bhattacharya, president, Howrah Town BJP.

“He has been accused of arranging vehicles for different ganja dealers from South 24-Parganas and Howrah for the alleged transportation of ganja outside Bengal,” said an officer of the detective department in Lalbazar.

Naskar was produced in court and remanded in police custody for two days.
