Deepika Padukone

A red-on-red can be tricky but not when you are Deepika Padukone and you have been acing the famed Cannes red carpet over the years. The actress and jury member this year made a spectacular statement in a red Louis Vuitton gown, the same brand that declared her as “house ambassador” on May 10. The glamorous red-carpet outfit had a plunging neckline and a lot of flare. Bold red lips, diamond neckpiece, rich metallic eyes and lots of mascara completed her make-up story. The actress tied her hair into a messy pony with few wisps here and there.

For a photo call for jury members, DP opted for a Sabyasachi ensemble. Classic printed silk shirt, paired with high-waist pleated green flared pants from his Tropic of Calcutta collection, trademark Sabyasachi tan belt, a scarf and statement-ey multicoloured neckpiece with uncut diamonds and precious stones. Our Piku stood out like a diamond. From her poise, confidence to that dimpled smile, she had our heart.

Deepika served up a boss lady look as she slayed in a pleated black pant-suit teamed with an animal-motif neckpiece, red lips, messy bun and bronzed make-up. After the two Sabya looks, this one was out of the box and a lot mellowed, which we loved!

For her first Cannes outfit this year, DP choose a Louis Vuitton Fall Collection sleeveless  shimmery dress with brown knee-high boots and a box clutch. Simple yet smart, to kick-start the event. We approve!

Deepika Padukone looked jaw-dropping in a Sabyasachi Bengal tiger sari — a black-and-gold sequinned drape paired with his Bengal Royale collection jewellery — a traditional Indian matha patti, chandeliers with an Art Deco gaze! Deepika’s regal look was complemented by bold retro eyes. “The sari is a story I will never stop telling. No matter where we are in the world, it has its place,” wrote Sabya on his Instagram!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

There can’t be any Cannes red carpet without some drama! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan kept the most dramatic look saved for Day 3 when she opted for a powder pink Gaurav Gupta gown with an exaggerated shoulder attachment. The outfit was named The Venus Structure, and Gaurav took to Instagram to explain it.” Inspired by the birth of Venus, the goddess of beauty and love, rising from the scalloped shell; she transitions from the infinite, pure as pearl.” And Ash did look every bit like a celestial diva, with side-swept hair, neatly defined eyes, pink glossy lips and stunning diamond ear cuffs.

Let’s make one thing clear — Aishwarya is beautiful and she can look good in anything but when it was about her choice of outfit, in this case the black billowy gown with larger-than-life flowers, we are not sure. The black looks great on her, full points for the flawless make-up and hairdo but honestly the flowers looked a wee bit too much and was more of a distraction.

For her first appearance this year, it was a hot-pink Valentino suit paired with chunky Valentino Garavani TanGo shoes in the same shade. We loved the suit on her for Day One. Mellow yet bold enough. And we simply loved how Ash proudly owned the hints of wrinkles on her face!

Pooja Hegde

Veterans Aishwarya and Deepika aside, if there is a celeb who caught the eyes of the paps and was complimented well was Bollywood actress Pooja Hegde who made her Cannes debut too. She chose a gorgeous off-shoulder number with feather detailing, embellished bodice and a voluminous skirt. She tied her hair in a sleek ponytail, wore diamond danglers to round off her look. The colour complimented her skin tone, she seemed confident and we loved that she didn’t try to do too much and kill the attire.

Aditi Rao Hydari

Sari and Sabyasachi have been trending this Cannes season and for Aditi Rao Hydari’s debut, the actress chose a “hand-dyed and embroidered ivory organza sari. Paired with an emerald and diamond choker” from the designer’s

Bengal Royale Collection. It’s needless to say that Aditi was a vision to behold.

Urvashi Rautela

It was a debut at Cannes for Urvashi Rautela and she put her best foot forward in a billowy white one-shoulder ruffled gown with a long train. It’s clear she wanted to make her debut chanelling princess vibes, and she looked nice with the neat updo, but the grapes hanging from her shoulder and waist left us confused.

Tamannaah Bhatia

Blending two classic colours, black and white, actress Tamannaah Bhatia opted for a Gauri & Nainika monochrome halter-neck gown that gave us modern-day Cinderella vibes! A statement diamond earrings was her chosen accessory for the red carpet look. We totally loved it.
