All kinds of stories, everyone’s stories, stories from Bangla and stories of Bengalis... Hoichoi, the leading Bengali OTT platform globally, rolled out one surprise after another. On Friday, the names of 20 of its new original shows for the fifth year were announced, which targets to reach 100 originals by the end of 2022. Hoichoi plans to release 30 more originals along with 12 world premiere movies. There are plans to add 50 new curated movie titles to its current 600+ movie library.

Along with that the OTT platform is working with some of the biggest creators and local talent from Bangladesh to bring bigger and better originals for Bangladesh. Currently, there are plans to produce at least seven-nine originals in Bangladesh for the year 2022. Mahendra Soni, co-founder of SVF and Hoichoi said: “We are overwhelmed with the response and love we have received for Hoichoi, in both the regional and as well as national OTT space, in the span of past four years. The thing that has made it possible for Hoichoi to build its diverse audience base is its relevant and dynamic content, that Hoichoi has been committed in delivering for the last four years. As we step into the fifth year, the goal is to curate more remarkable content in collaboration with the best creators and talents of the industry. We are announcing new shows, with more in the pipeline, with stories that we hope will be able to strike a chord with our audiences.”

The Telegraph spotlights some of the shows from the 20....

Anirban Bhattacharya and Ridhima Ghosh are back, this time with Arjun Chakrabarty, Ushasi Ray, Chandan Sen joining the cast for a new season of Byomkesh, based on the story Chorabali. “I play Himangshu in Chorabali. He’s a zamindar and a shikari. I had great fun playing this character because I haven’t done anything of the sort before. And working with Ridhima and Anirban was amazing because it’s literally family. We had super-fun adda sessions post pack up and in between scenes. Also, they’re all brilliant artistes. Working under Soumikda’s (Halder) direction was another huge plus,” said Arjun.

Srijit Mukherji is all set to bring in Feluda, Bengal’s most popular detective in 2022!

Indu is a family drama/thriller, starring Ishaa Saha, revolving around a grand wedding and a ‘bonedi’ household. “Though Indu is a suspense/ thriller drama, the territory is completely new to me. I think this brand of suspense will offer something fresh for the viewers. Honestly, it was pretty difficult for the team to execute Indu, because it is not only the mystery that needed to be built, there were a lot of minute details to take care of, which were psychological in nature... a lot of emotions, family drama. It is going to be very unique,” said director Sayantan Ghosal.

Created by Tanim Noor, Kaiser is about a homicide detective of the same name, who is addicted to video games, and because of this unhealthy habit, he manages to raise many complications in his personal and professional space. Also, he is scared of blood!

Here’s a new detective created by Sahana Dutta. Ritwick Chakraborty plays the role of a detective called Gora. “Directing detective thrillers is like homecoming to me, it’s so much fun! The screenplay has been brilliantly written by Sahana Dutta, it has a lot of wit, humour, emotions, and, of course, twists and turns. It breaks a lot of stereotypical formula found in detective stories. Ritwick is clearly one of the finest actors of our country, one I have been waiting to collaborate with. He is so magical on screen, yet so effortless in his approach...only proves how much effort he has put in to perfect his craft. Gora has turned out to be an extremely lovable and relatable detective,” said director Sayantan Ghosal.

Ashfaque Nipun is bringing Sabrina, a realistic take on the oppression of women irrespective of their social strata with a spine-chilling story of two women.
