Jasjit Singh touched thousands of lives as a philanthropist, social worker, and above all a great human. And it is these qualities of his that keep him alive in the hearts of those close to him. Last month, friends, family and well-wishers congregated at Sanjha Chulha for 'Remembering Jasjit', a memorial to mark his fifth death anniversary. The evening began with a welcome address by entrepreneur and social worker Imran Zaki and theatre personality Ramanjit Kaur. Father Dominic Gomes evoked deep emotions by soulfully offering a prayer. This was followed by Prof. Maria Fernandes humorously recalling working with Jasjit for social causes and incidents that evoked laughter. Retd IPS RK Johree and Shahanshah Mirza rendered evocative nazms followed by Ramanjit’s recitation of Surjit Patar's poem Kidhar Gaya. Later, Romi Bhandari reminisced a deeply moving incident, and Saranjit Singh, Rajendra Singh, Ananda Basu invited everyone to sing songs like Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge. Jasjit's sisters Rashmi Singh and Anurupa Arora, niece Swastika, wife Jyoti Singh and daughter Anaya remembered Jasjit fondly who was the honorary secretary of FACES and ALMA.
