Jadavpur University to host first edition of Med Gala from November 24-25

The fest will have unique contests and star-studded interactions

Journalism and mass communication students of the department of Adult Continuing Education and Extension, Jadavpur University, have huddled to put up their first departmental fest – Med Gala 2022. The two-day grand fest will begin from November 24 and will have over 10 competitions. Also, the critically acclaimed movie Ballabhpurer Roopkotha will be screened. My Kolkata is the digital media partner for the event.

Santwan Chattopadhyay, HoD, Adult Continuing Education and Extension, said, “For the first time, our journalism and mass communication students are organising a fest. I liked the uniqueness in their approach. They incorporated creative competitive events which will showcase the application skills of media students. Moreover, they have committed to contribute (in case of surplus funds) towards lab facilities in the department.’’

After the inauguration on November 24, a volleyball match will be played. It will be followed by Mogojastra (quiz); Shobdo-Jobdo (feature writing); Memebaazi (meme making contest); Pictorial (comic strip); Chitra-Gupt (photojournalism); Be offbeat (Open mic) and conclude with an interactive session with the star cast of Ballabhpurer Roopkotha.

The line-up for November 25 is as follows: Pitch Astra (Brand Pitching); Screen Masters (Short-filmmaking); Halla Bol (Street play) and the screening of Ballabhpurer Roopkotha.

Med Gala has already created the much-needed buzz among the youth of the city. Around 2,000 students are expected to visit the two-day fest. The impressive line-up of special guests like Anirban Bhattacharya, Satyam Bhattacharya, Surangana Bandyopadhyay, Shyamal Chakraborty have elevated the excitement and enthusiasm among the students. Over 500 students from various city institutions like Surendranath College, St. Xavier's College, Bhawanipur Education Society College, Acharya Prafulla Chandra College, Amity University and more have already registered for various events. Registrations for the fest have already closed.
