When you think of Bangla bands, the name of Cactus comes to mind. Cactus is one of the successful Bengali rock bands, dominating the music scene for the last 31 years. Their line-up includes Sidhu (vocals), Pota (vocals), Boidurjyo Chowdhury (guitars and vocals), Samrat Banerjee (guitar), Proshanto Mahato (bass), Sayantan Chatterjee (keys) and Arnab Dasgupta (drums). From their evergreen hit Holud pakhi to the fun and quirky Chi chi chi, the band’s music always tugs at the heartstrings.

“It’s really been a long journey, a really long one, with its ups and downs, satisfaction and frustrations. The love that the audience has heaped upon us, is really remarkable. We celebrated our 31st birthday with a lot of energy. Began the day by organising a blood donation camp at Chuchura and significantly there were 31 blood donors. In the evening, we performed at Sanskriti Lok Mancha at Burdwan organised by our friends and fans and it was a day-long celebration for us,” said Sidhu.
