ILPA (Indian Leather Products Association) celebrated the silver jubilee anniversary of the Leather on the Ramp fashion show, in association with The Telegraph, at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata, recently. With a host of brands showcasing their array of trendy and fashionable products, the evening was truly a celebration of leather merchandise that included a variety of bags from backpacks to handbags and other innovative designs. In attendance were foreign diplomats and other guests. With a glittering line-up of showstoppers , the evening was one to remember. Here are some glimpses.
Miss Universe India 2010 Ushoshi Sengupta carried trendy handbags from Rene as their showstopper. We especially loved the orange one which was not only of a unique colour but added a great accent to the monochrome outfit.
Mumtaz Sorcar was the showstopper for Freya (Sumbul Tannind Corporation), completing the last sequence for the evening.
Arijit ‘Dadul’ Dutta and Sayantani Guhathakurta joined forces for Om Leather.
Cue sports champ Sourav Kothari walked the ramp as the showstopper for Trio Group armed with a trendy yet functional backpack that could be worn over the shoulders or carried in hand.
Celebrity sari draper, Dolly Jain, was the showstopper for NS Leather. She looked pretty in a gorgeous red sari.

“ILPA has been the biggest exporter of leather goods since the beginning and we are proud to still hold that position. After the lull of the past two years, we are proud to be back on
track to hold this show this year. I am proud and privileged to host the 25th anniversary of this event. I welcome all to this great, great event where nine brands will showcase their
leather goods like handbags, crossbody bags and more. I thank the ILPA members as well, for putting up this wonderful show,” said Ajay Tarway, president, ILPA (extreme right). Akash was happy to have the event back.
“This fashion show has been taking place for the last 25 years and we sort of launched what a fashion show is. Over the years, the interest in leather products has also grown. There are many more brands that are eager to participate in the show now. For newer brands, this helps them see the trends and styles that are currently going around and understand their own position accordingly,” he said.
Moubani Sorcar walked the ramp for Rajda.
