Wrong tune: Jessica Simpson

New York, June 3 (Reuters): Jessica Simpson, who famously sang that she “never felt so beautiful” with “nothing but a T-shirt on”, has had second thoughts about the T-shirt.

Simpson, the star of MTV’s Newlyweds, has filed a suit for $140,000 claiming she wore a T-shirt with a promotional logo in the video for her single With You but was never paid by the promotion company that arranged for the deal.

In the lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court and made public today, Simpson claims that she wore a T-shirt promoting the auto racing company Motorock but then had a related concert scrapped and was never paid.

Simpson also has asked the New Jersey company 4 Dog Productions LLC. to pay her damages and interest to be determined at the trial.

The complaint, originally filed in a federal court in April, claims that Simpson agreed to sing at the Grand Prix auto race of Puerto Rico in October last year.

The contract had called for Simpson to be paid $14,000 by October 8, 2003 and $126,000 before October 22. But on October 10, the lawsuit says that 4 Dog Productions “unilaterally cancelled” plans for her auto race performance without the consent of Simpson or her agency.

“The lawsuit is baseless,” Mike Zaccaro, owner of 4 Dog Productions and the defendant in the lawsuit, said.

Simpson’s lawyer was not immediately available for comment.

The singer recently ended her second season of the Newlyweds.
