An IndiGo flight gets ready to land at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on a cloudy Tuesday evening. Sharp showers between 4pm and 5pm caught the capital unawares but did not lower day temperatures appreciably. Among the areas that witnessed rain were Main Road, Lalpur, Circular Road, Kutchery Road, Hinoo, Harmu, Kantatoli, Birsa Chowk, Harmu Bypass and Khunti Road. Director of Ranchi Met office BK Mandal attributed the showers to local cloud formation and said that conditions would remain similar in the next 24 hours. "In addition to urban areas, rainfall occurred in the fringes too," he said. The maximum temperature recorded on Tuesday was 30.2°C (it was 29°C on Monday) while the minimum temperature was 17.6°C (17.3°C on Monday). Picture by Prashant Mitra
