Hazaribagh, Nov. 27: In a major breakthrough in the Swetab Suman abduction case, police have recovered the Toyota Qualis used in the kidnapping of the suspended additional income tax commissioner on November 17 near Barhi.
However, the officers refused to give details of the place from where the car was recovered.
They told The Telegraph that the investigation was in a crucial stage and any wrong step could damage the evidence. But they said they were trying to find out to whom this vehicle belonged.
However, the officials didn?t rule out the possibility that the vehicle was stolen from somewhere and used in the abduction case.
Superintendent of police Praveen Kumar Singh said raids were on in Koderma, Biharsharif and Rajgir to trace the suspended officer. Singh hoped that police would soon manage to catch the abductors.
Earlier, the police had found the Indica, which was taken away by abductors after dumping the driver and a friend of Suman. The Indica was recovered from Burdwan, West Bengal, on November 20.
According to police sources, the abduction has raised several doubts. ?During the investigation, we realised that Suman was abducted by some professional kidnappers,? Singh said.
Sources said all the officials have been asked not to leak any information on the case. The way in which the abduction was executed had made them suspect the Arvind Raut gang, added the sources.
According to them, due to this, raids were started in three districts two in Bihar known for the activities of this gang.
The suspended additional income tax commissioner was abducted from Barhi on November 17 when he was travelling along Grand Trunk Road with a friend.
