VC books ties with governor

Ranchi, Aug. 17: Ranchi University vice-chancellor A.A. Khan today called on the governor-cum-chancellor Syed Sibtey Razi to hand him over a copy of his book, A First Course in Electronics.

The book has been co-authored by K.K. De, a professor of the postgraduate department of physics.

In the informal gathering, the governor and the vice-chancellor discussed about the academic activities in the university, including class schedule, senate meeting and the proposed students’ union polls in September. They also discussed about a seminar on excellence in higher education to be organised by the Raj Bhavan in October.

Annual report

Chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission Dilip Prasad today called on the governor to hand over the annual report of the commission for 2003-04 and 2004-05.

Governor also received a memorandum from a delegation of Kendriya Janshangharsha Samiti-Latehar demanding renovation of two proposed military cantonments.

CIP & Rinpas results

Ranchi University examination board today decided to announce the results of Rinpas and CIP after the affiliation of these institutions pending with the state government was cleared recently.

According to spokesperson S.S. Akhtar, the board rejected the proposal of postgraduate department of psychology to shift the centre of practical examination from GLA College, Daltonganj and Tata College, Chaibasa.

Besides, the board also decided to conduct special examinations of semester-II for MBA students, who were promoted to semester-III despite having failed in some of the papers in the previous semester.

Similarly, special examinations will be organised for semester-II and semester-V for the LLB students, who were promoted to the next semesters without clearing some previous papers. Akhtar said the university would charge Rs 1,000 as examination fee from such examinees.
