Two held for student murder

Hazaribagh/Ranchi, Sept. 16: The 12-year-old nephew of a local businessman, Bhawesh Kumar, was murdered after he was abducted yesterday. Hours after the body was found dumped near Ranchi Road in Marar today, the Ramgarh police today arrested two youths for the crime.

The youths have been identified as Kamlesh Choubey and Gautam Giri. The duo, who lived in Marar colony under Ramgarh police station area, has confessed to the crime. Another accused, Mukesh Paswan is absconding.

The kidnappers had asked a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from the family, but later killed the boy fearing trouble.

Bhawesh, the nephew of the owner of owns Progressive Refractories and Monolithitz, was kidnapped yesterday while returning from his tuition classes. When the boy did not return home late in the evening on Wednesday, the family was alarmed. His father made frantic attempts to locate him but to no avail. He then alerted the police.

Around 11 pm, the family received a call from the abductors asking for Rs 5 lakh for the safe release of the child. Superintendent of police, Hazaribagh, Ashish Batra said the family received a second call at 7 this morning.

Batra said the abductors had been planning the crime for two months. ?We have interrogated the goons and they said 15 days ago they had attempted to take Bhawesh to Kuju Valley, but failed. According to the arrested duo, the boy was killed yesterday evening.?

?They did not have a place to keep the boy. So they decided to kill him first and then ask for ransom,? Batra said.

Sixteen-year-old Vinti Ojha, a resident of the Kusum Vihar colony of Morabadi under the Bariatu police station area, was found hanging in her room yesterday.

According to the FIR lodged, Vinti was preparing for her coming board exams. She was not suffering from any depression.

Vinti?s mother is a teacher in the same school while father Pradip runs a shop.
