Jamshedpur, April 26: The court of additional district and sessions judge P.P. Pandey today acquitted Rama Singh, Dilip Singh alias Kalu Singh, Sunil Singh and Parasa Singh, all accused in the triple murder case of Congress leaders Anand Rao, Janardan Choubey and Pradeep Mishra in 1989.

The court, after hearing out both the prosecution and the defence, pointed out that the prosecution could not substantiate the case with sufficient evidences and the involvement of the four accused could not be established.

The three Congress leaders were murdered at Jugsalai on February 2, 1989, by contract killers in which RJD MP from Siwan Mohammad Shahabuddin and LJP MLA Rama Singh were said to have been involved.

?After examination of the nine witnesses, investigating officer and other evidences produced by the prosecution during the trial, the court did not find any evidence against the accused. The investigating officer has also failed to substantiate the findings,? said the court in its judgment.

Defence advocate Udit Sarkar and H.K. Choudhary welcomed the verdict saying that the judgment proved that the police falsely implicated his clients with ulterior motives.

The court, however, has started a separate trial for Shahabuddin and judgment on his involvement would be pronounced later.
