Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) organised two road shows in Ranchi on July 31 at Chambers Bhavan and Jharkhand Small Industries Association (JSIA) to brief those running small and medium enterprises about Indian Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) so that they take part in its fifth edition, the IESS-15. The exhibition will be held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, between November 24 and 26. Set up by the Union ministry of commerce and industries, the export council tries to highlight India as a tech hub. It also facilitates interactions between export-oriented Indian entrepreneurs and interested foreign firms by organising the IESS in association with Director General of Foreign Trade, said Anima Pandey, the EEPC regional director based in Calcutta who came to Ranchi. Representatives of industry from 62 countries took part in the fourth edition of IESS, and over 7,200 contracts, involving business of over 6 billion US dollars, were signed
Wagon gripe
A delegation of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) met Ranchi railway division’s senior divisional commercial manager Neeraj Kumar and senior divisional operating manager M.R. Acharya on August 4 to discuss problems faced by traders who use rail wagons to transport raw materials and finished goods. Lack of basic infrastructure at Namkum railway siding, close to the capital, made it extremely difficult for entrepreneurs of the region to use the facility, particularly after dusk, the FJCCI delegation pointed it out to the railway officials. FJCCI secretary Pawan Sharma, who led the businessmen’s delegation, said the railway officials gave them a patient hearing and promised to look into the matter

The agri-business vertical of Mahindra & Mahindra, part of the USD 16.9 billion Mahindra Group, on July 29 announced the launch of its branded edible oil, NuPro, for health conscious consumers. The company, under the NuPro brand, will offer a bouquet of edible oils, the first of which is the NuPro Virgin Kachchi Ghani Mustard Oil.
