Honda Jazz rolls out
Honda Cars India on July 8 launched its third-generation Honda Jazz nationally, including Ranchi. India is the first market to get a diesel-powered Honda Jazz. “The Jazz is a very successful model around the world with over 5.5 million units sold across 75 countries since the launch of its first generation in 2001,” Noriaki Abe, president and director, Asian Honda Motor Company, said at the Delhi launch shown in Ranchi via teleconferencing at Basudeb Honda. “The all new Jazz will be a key pillar of business and instrumental in driving the growth for Honda cars in India,” said Katsushi Inoue, president and director, Honda Cars India. The petrol variant has a starting price of Rs 5.37 lakh and the diesel one Rs 6.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Ranchi). The petrol one gives a mileage of 19kmpl while the diesel counterpart 27.3kmpl. In seven exciting colours, Jazz is a functional, compact hatchback with dynamic styling, fuel economy and advanced technology
Next-gen BSNL
At the start of Digital India Week on July 1, the Jharkhand circle of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) commissioned two hi-tech next-generation network (NGN) exchanges at CMPDI and Mesra in Ranchi with capacities of 2,000 and 500 lines respectively. NGN is one such network capable of transferring all information and services (voice data and all sorts of media, including video) by encapsulating them into packets similar to those used on the internet. Two more NGN exchanges, one of 7,500 lines in Dhanbad and another of 19,000 lines in Ranchi, have been planned for commissioning during the 2015-16 fiscal, informed a news release issued by Jharkhand circle chief general manager’s office
Mineral development boss
Public Enterprises Selection Board selected Gopal Singh, chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and recommended his name as the next CMD of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Ltd, headquartered in Hyderabad. The board announced its decision on July 1, before which it interviewed 13 candidates for the post. All were top public sector officials from Steel Authority of India Ltd, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd, Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd, and others, besides NMDC
